Seasons in Korea

Weather, blossoms, foliage and festivals by month.

Korea has four distinct seasons, and the time of year changes what you pack, what you see and how busy the trains are. Spring brings cherry blossoms but also dusty days; summer is hot, humid and the wettest time of year; autumn is clear and colourful; winter is cold, dry and quiet.

Public holidays matter as much as the weather. During Seollal and Chuseok, millions of people travel at once, trains sell out and some shops close, so it helps to know the dates before you book flights.

These guides use the Korea Meteorological Administration's long-term averages and the official holiday calendar, and we update them when new forecasts are published.
